The revolutionary patented process for repairing
gasoline and diesel fuel tanks.
....Our most often asked question:
How do I get it there?....
|
You have made the wise decision to
have your original tank processed. Wash it out with a degreasing
detergent like Dawn for dishes. If you have trouble removing the
gasoline, punch a small hole in one corner to drain the tank. Let the
tank dry completely. Put into a large garbage or leaf bag and seal
with tape.
|
|
We have found the appliance store to
be a great source of cardboard. You can make a box to fit your tank
exactly. Measure the length plus the girth of the box and try to keep
it under 130 inches total. If it is larger than 130 inches, you will
pay more for the shipping. (Measuring "girth" is like measuring
your waistline:)
|
|
You can track your tank
while in transit. I know it is hard to part with that irreplaceable
tank, but we haven't lost one yet.
|
|
Please fill out the form HARDCOPY and send with your tank. |
...Our process is simple but
thorough! .
|
When the tank arrives, Glenn Moyer will call you with
the exact cost. It is very difficult to give a quote without seeing
the tank. If you decide not to have the tank processed, we will ship
it back immediately. We try our very best to provide a quality product
at a fair price.
|
|
We will take pictures of your tank.
The shipping department will keep a copy and the shop will have a copy.
Any instructions you send will be included with the photos.
|
|
Your tank will be defumed in our oven until no fumes are
detected.
|
|
It will be thoroughly sandblasted on the inside and the
outside. Nothing sticks to rust, not even Renu. The tank must be
absolutely clean before we start the process. Blasting serves a dual
purpose, to clean metal of any rust and to put a rough profile on the tank
to insure a good bond.
|
|
All the repairs will be made at this time. As you
can see in the picture on our HOME page "almost" any repair is possible. If the metal is so
thin that you can crush it with your hand it is too far gone to restore.
|
| After the tank is cleaned and repaired, we will start the
process. Any pinholes will be pre-patched with a thicker version of
our material designed to mushroom through pinholes and bond inside coating
with the outside coating. The pre-patch is baked and cooled and then
the tank will be filled with the red colored Renu product and rolled until
completely coated. If there are any pinholes that we missed, the red
Renu will show and we can brush in pre-patch making a mushroom effect
through the pinhole. Once the inside is evenly coated, the tank will
be baked in our oven at 360 degrees for 6 minutes. The coating is
baked on and will be permanent.
|
| As soon as the tank cools a bit, we will apply the black Renu product
to the top half of the tank. The black Renu is worked into the
roughened metal to ensure a good bond and then brushed as smooth as
possible. Brush strokes will be visible. If this is a problem,
go to BIKE page and let us know your preference. The tank will be baked a second
time. It will be hung up to cool, then coated on the bottom and baked
for a third time. This extra step insures an even coating on the top
and the bottom.
|
|
The tank will be checked by quality control, boxed up and
on the way home.
|
...OK I was wrong, our most often asked
question is "HOW MUCH"...
| I cannot give an exact cost because we do a large variety of
tanks: Automobile, truck, motorcycle, tractor, boat, motor home, oil
pans, ATV, snowmobile, etc. Every tank is different in some way.
Most of the tanks range between $295 and $395 depending on the condition of
the tank and the repairs needed before we begin our process. Let me
know what you have and I will try to give you a ballpark figure. |
